As part of the Berlin Art Week program, multimedia artist Eli Cortiñas (showing her exhibition The Machine Monologs, Part I: The Storm) has curated a selection of video works titled Machine Dialogues, with works by Patricia Dominguez, Santiago Mostyn, Will Fredo and others. With more images now produced and viewed by machines than by humans, the videos aim at questioning biases embedded in the Western-centric gaze. The screening explores how this gaze and technology create and perpetuate "othering." Through this selection of diverse artists, we explore new perspectives on what this machine-driven way of looking at the world can offer.
Following the screening, acclaimed animation performer Kristy Nataraja will take the stage as a "human avatar". Specializing in animation movement, ancient dance forms, rituals and improvisation, Kristy Nataraja's performance promises a mesmerizing live embodiment of digitalized ancient storytelling. Her unique approach blends traditional techniques with contemporary animation dance.
