Open Q&A with Director Christian Frei
About the making of “War Photographer" and James Nachtwey’s work
Join us for an open conversation with acclaimed director Christian Frei, whose documentary War Photographer (2001) is currently presented as part of the exhibition Memoria by James Nachtwey.
Christian Frei followed Nachtwey – one of the most influential photojournalists of our time – closely through war zones while making this documentary. During this Q&A, he shares personal insights of that encounter and answers your questions (in English and German) on topics such as ethics, storytelling, and the importance of bearing witness.
Discover what it means to witness conflict firsthand and the profound impact this experience had on both of their personal lives.
The film (OV bilingual English/German, subtitled where required, 92 min.) consists of several sequences and runs on loop for the duration of the exhibition. With your ticket you are welcome to watch it before or after the Q&A, as well as explore all other exhibitions the whole day.
