The interplay of body, technology, and imagination in the context of photographic image production. Street photography merging with artificially generated worlds, tracing the boundaries between physical and digital space. Portraits and photographs of everyday objects as reflections of a patriarchal society. Rural youth in Schleswig-Holstein surrounded by farms, tractors, and wind turbines. A deeply personal photographic search for traces in Ukraine between war, trauma, and resilience. These are the worlds of the next five selected artists of the Emerging Berlin talent program, which we present on 5 June at Fotografiska Berlin.

Among others, hear from Sophia Emmerich, Lead Editor, about the vision behind Fotografiska Emerging, our global initiative dedicated to discovering, supporting, and giving visibility to the next generation of photographers and visual artists. Marie-Luise Mayer, Curator of Emerging Berlin, introduces the next five exhibiting artists of the local series: Bob Jones, Carola Lampe, Miji Ih, Anna Tiessen, and Anya Tsaruk. The evening opens with the exhibition 587 Blitze by Bob Jones, inaugurated as part of the event. Jones also reads on stage from her text books that are part of the exhibition.

B4MBI starts the evening with a live performance. The rising Berlin musician of the New German Wave combines experimental pop with direct, emotional lyrics.

Afterwards, we continue celebrating together:

As an emerging talent, you have the opportunity to connect directly with our team and receive advice for your own career or for applying to the Emerging program. Sandrino from the DJ duo Frankey & Sandrino provides the soundtrack for the night with an atmospheric blend of house and techno.

The event marks the beginning of a new strategic partnership between IFA Berlin, Fotografiska Berlin, and Volkswagen R. Building on the successful collaboration between IFA and Fotografiska last year, the three partners join forces to strengthen the intersection of technology, art, and cultural discourse. The goal is to amplify creative perspectives and make innovation and artistic expression tangible on a shared platform.

The Emerging Berlin talent program, which takes place within the context of the museum’s global Fotografiska Emerging initiative supporting rising visual artists, stands at the center of this partnership. The initiative is supported by IFA Berlin and Volkswagen R, enabling the realization of the upcoming exhibitions.

About the Opening Artist

Bob Jones' practice operates between photography, performance and installation. She explores the performative and processual dimensions of image-making, focusing on how bodies and identities are constructed in technological contexts. Photography is thereby regarded not as a means of documentation, but as an active agent through which visibility, authorship and embodiment are negotiated. Informed by queer-feminist perspectives, Jones' work examines how image, apparatus and algorithm intertwine to shape and subjectivity.

About the Performing Artists

B4MBI

B4MBI emerged from the New German Wave and stands out as one of the few FLINTA* artists in the scene. With honest, direct lyrics and instantly memorable melodies, she carved out her own distinctive style early on. Today, her music blends experimental pop with both electronic and organic elements, creating a sound full of contrasts and intense moods.B4MBI tackles topics that often go unspoken, crafting songs that don’t just aim to please – they linger.

Sandrino

Sandrino is a DJ and producer, best known as one half of the electronic duo Frankey & Sandrino. With over two decades in the scene, he has become a respected name in house and techno. In 2010, he partnered with Frank Beckers (Frankey), combining their musical backgrounds into a distinctive sound built on emotive melodies and driving rhythms. Their breakthrough came with Acamar (2015) on Innervisions, gaining global recognition and strong support from leading DJs. They followed up with releases on labels like Kompakt, Mule Musiq, and Drumpoet Community, cementing their reputation worldwide. Sandrino’s style blends deep, atmospheric production with dancefloor energy, while his DJ sets are known for their smooth flow and emotional impact.
